Earlier I had posted a video, which said, I AM A SERIAL AGGRAVATOR.
I addressed the issue that today Christians can be charged with AGGRAVATING, when all they are doing is witnessing. NO, I DID NOT SAY THEY WERE DOING ANYTHING WRONG. In fact, the people around a Christian can be doing all manner of law breaking, even the person that is being witnessed to can be a public menace or a public disturbance, but the Christian, even when he/she is quiet, orderly, polite, can be charged with AGGRAVATING.
AGGRAVATING. you gotta be kidding me. But, YEP, it is a "reality."
I have been threatened with this charge and others in my family have been threatened three different cities with this charge and I saw a video of people witnessing in Dearborn, Michigan being threatened with this charge.
I am not endorsing the Christians in the Dearborn (Detroit) video, since I don't know them and I don't know what happened, other than what was on the video. HOWEVER, the Christians were not attacking, threatening, intimidating or injuring the Muslims, though the Muslims were verbally and physically assaulting and threatening the Christians. It was on the public streets, still, the police threatened the Christians and represented the Muslims, who were obviously guilty of breaking the law. In fact, some of the police were Muslims and basically said that they were deciding what was legal and what was illegal.
BUT THAT WAS THERE AND I WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT US.
The government and police forces side with Islam, because they are intimidated by Islam and not by Christianity. They know that Biblical Christians are not going to fight back with carnal weapons. We are going to love our enemies. (there are people who call themselves Christians who resort to physical violence, but they are not Biblical Christians). They may be saved. They may be right with God. BUT they are not Biblical if they are into violence and self defense with carnal a weapon.
If you are not breaking a law, causing a scene or a disturbance or not being obnoxious or not forcing yourself on anyone, law enforcement can still nail you with, AGGRAVATING.
Between Mark and myself, we have been threatened 3 times with the charge of aggravating. This took place in three different cities, on three different occasions, in two different States, and the same terminology was used.
If you are witnessing to someone, and someone does not like the fact that you are witnessing for Jesus, WHETHER WITH THEM, OR WITH SOMEONE ELSE, WHETHER THEY ARE PART OF THE SITUATION OR JUST PASSING BY, REGARDLESS OF HOW QUIET AND CIVIL YOU ARE BEHAVING, they can report you to the police and you may be charged with AGGRAVATING.
If you ask for a definition or a legal explanation, you may not get one. You may get the officer's personal viewpoint or opinion. THAT IS NOT THE LAW. THAT IS NOT CONSTITUTIONAL. That is not the RULE OF LAW, though it is being used as the rule of law.
We need preachers with backbones.
We need parishioners with backbones.
We need law enforcement with backbones.
I have had police show up when I was having confrontations with BAD PEOPLE, who were threatening me, and the officers TOLD ME TO MOVE ON. They had the gun and they were afraid of what the law breaker was going to do. I did not have the gun and I stood my ground. All I had was the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT (which is more powerful), but God gave the sword of steel to the State to protect the righteous and to punish the wicked.
If given the choice, law enforcement today (at large) will go against the Christian holding a Bible rather than against a guy wearing a hoodie, and maybe a machete, if not a gun.
NO LAW ENFORCER SHOULD EVER USE FORCE, EVEN FOR THE STATE, TO ROB A CHRISTIAN OF HIS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OR GOD GIVEN OBLIGATION.
When the two police officers in Crossville, Tennessee came up to me and threatened me with arrest for AGGRAVATING they had their nose with inches of my nose. It was intended to either intimidate me into compliance or to agitate me into a physical assault, at which time they could arrest me.
I STOOD RIGHT THERE. I did not move. I did not back away and I did not act aggressively. That was even more disturbing to the officers. They are not used to being defied, especially by someone who is obviously not violent.
They would threaten me then the would talk to each other for a while then they would threaten me again. I told them, "Do what you have to do, but I am not going to leave, because I have not done anything wrong."
If I had flinched in their direction I would have been in cuffs and headed to the backseat of the cruiser. At the same time there were people standing nearby with profane and obscene pictures and words on their shirt, but the cops were threatening me with arrest, FOR AGGRAVATING.
They tried and tried to get me to leave and to stop talking, but I would not comply.
They finally realized I was not going to comply so they talked it over again. They basically told me that if I caused a problem again that they would arrest me.
When authorities are the ones who have the power, individually, to determine what a problem is, from the President to to the Dog Catcher, whether those who make the laws or enforce the laws or judge you for supposedly breaking the laws, WHEN THEY GET TO DECIDE WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG, BASED ON THEIR OWN FEELINGS OR STANDARDS, RATHER THAN BY RULE OF LAW, AND WHEN THEY DETERMINE THAT WE ARE AGGRAVATORS FOR OBEYING GOD AND LIVING BY OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, THEN WE NEED TO BE AGGRAVATORS.
Other people who are disturbing the peace, causing upheaval, breaking the law are going to be free to do the wrong thing while we suffer for doing the right thing. Everyone is afraid that they will upset voters, especially dangerous people who vote and especially the favored citizens of a Politically Correct society. The rights and dignity of Christians is easily abused because Christians are not a violent threat to them.
Too bad that Christians lost the power of prayer. Remember Ananias and Sapphira? God stepped in and stopped that anarchy. Today, there is a movement to stop the people of God. Don't be part of the movement and don't let the movement keep you from you Divine calling.

Turkey arrested and incarcerated a Christian preacher, on the charge of CHRISTIANIZATION. That preacher has spent about two years in deplorable conditions.
My son Mark and I have both been threatened by law enforcement (together and separately) with "AGGRAVATING." Yea, really. I couldn't believe it the first time I heard it either. All we were doing was simply witnessing for Christ. By the way, a police officer should never threaten or hinder a Christian on the basis of any such insanity as "aggravating." Especially since I have yet to have the officers threaten the bad guys with the same charge.
There have been several other occasions that I was threatened by law enforcement for doing that which is Biblical, and in fact, that which has been the recognized rights of Christians in America for about 2 centuries. It is going to get worse. You need to be a Biblical witness, which will make you unpopular and might even land you in jail.

I posted this because some folks try to make Christians feel guilty when they are out of fellowship with people who have chosen to sin and chosen not to turn from sin and then the believer is faced with giving the rebellious one a pass, in order to look tolerant and forgiving.

As in the rest of life, there are bad cops, preachers, teachers, doctors.
Their title and uniform does not make them heroes.
TWO THOUGHTS
1. We should appreciate and honor those who risk their lives to keep us safe and make our lives better.
2. We should never forget that evil people are evil, regardless of their position in society, and in fact, those who use their position to harm other people, are especially evil.
God has appointed the State to protect the righteous and to punish the wicked. God requires all of us to be moral and follow legitimate rule in this world. God will not hold anyone guiltless, who uses their position and power to oppress other people.
Sadly, there are bad apples in every barrel and sadly those bad apples often are driven by prejudice or agenda to hurt others. "Good" is not determined by color or race or gender. Therefore we must allow God to cleanse us from bigotry and prejudice, which is devisive. The more oppressive the government, the more oppressive and controlling are those in positions of authority.
This is a fact that Christians must understand and learn how to handle. Christians in other lands often find very few people in positions of authority to be honest and trustworthy. Sadly, if our nation chooses an oppressive government, the agents of the State will become the enemies of the masses. We must look on the inside rather than on the outside. We must not be led away, either to trust the untrustworthy or to mistrust the trustworthy. Honest, fair assessment is possible through Christ.

There is more to Christian APOLOGETICS, but there is no such thing without using TEXTS THAT PROVE the point.

I remember when PROOFTEXTING was understood to mean that a text was referenced in order to prove a doctrinal or Biblical point. It has become associated with TEXTS OUT OF CONTEXT.
Yes, that happens, but often times people reject Scripture because they call it 'prooftexting," which is presupposed to be an errant argument.
"YES" again, there is more to Biblical Apologetics than using a single verse or isolated passage. But that does not disqualify using "prooftexts" in discussion.
In fact, all Biblical Apologetics is about proving a truth, based on the texts of Scripture. It is possible for any study, any teaching, any preaching (including "EXPOSITORY" preaching) to be based on OUT OF CONTEXT Scripture.
In fact, some people hide their false doctrines in the chaos of supposed expositional preaching. They use long explanations to denounce clearly stated truths.
I like expositional preaching, but then again, I like all forms of good preaching. However, my observation is that popular "expositional" preaching often produces either shallow or nominal Christians.
It is the truth of Scripture that matters, more than the type of presentation.
A "prooftext" must be consistent with the rest of the word of God, regardless of how long or short that text may be.

We are at a point that people "do not know which bathroom to use."

We are at a point where people are attacked for raising boys to be boys and girls to be girls.

The God of Old Testament did name the stars, though experts e.g., Neil deGrasse Tyson, accept revisionist history and err in their deductions and bold assertions.
PART 1
MY POINT
Experts can be in error, either because they have been misled or they have chosen to believe error and reject facts. In either case, their errant foundation leads to a shaky superstructure of ideas, beliefs, assertions.
As a result, anyone who follows the errors and the errant logic of the "expert" will also believe error, or more specifically, a lie. I call it a lie because there is enough evidence concerning the truth to refute the error, but those who know the evidence choose not to accept the evidence. This happens largely in religion, science, history, politics.
THE EXAMPLE
I mentioned the well known astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson as an example. There is no question that Tyson has great intellectual capability and has applied himself admirably. However, I have watched him several times, and caught him in various and obvious errors. I will give an Explanation, concerning why such errors are dangerous, in the next paragraph, and give an Example of this problem in the following paragraph.
Explanation
When an error or a deliberate misrepresentation is accepted as being true, factual, accurate, then any findings built upon those errors are subject to error. When a thought process is led away from facts then the end of the thought process is probably going to be flawed. Even if most of the foundation is solid and trustworthy, the superstructure is still weakened. For instance, the Space Shuttle project cost 196 BILLION DOLLARS, but the Challenger failed because an error was made in the use of a small, inexpensive O-Ring. The O-Ring seemed to be a minor part of the great project, but the project's success depended on each part being trustworthy.
Example
In a presentation, concerning the contribution that Muslims (or Islam) has made to science, modern society, academics and culture, Tyson cited a comment by President George W. Bush immediately after the Muslim attack on 9/11/01.
Tyson mocked Bush's comment that the terrorists had attacked the people, whose God "named the stars." Tyson pointed out that the stars actually were named by Muslims and that he (Tyson) could have helped Bush not make this false statement, if only he had asked Tyson. YES, we refer to the stars by Arabic names.
However,
Islam did not come into existence until approximately 610 A.D. Muhammad (born 570 A.D.) formed his own man made religion, based on the foundation of some Jewish beliefs, some Christian beliefs and then adjusted to his own pagan beliefs.
However,
the Old Testament clearly tells us that the God of the Bible created the stars (at least 4600 years before Islam was devised),
God's servant, Job (in the time of Abraham, approximately 2500 years before Islam), referred to the stars and constellations by names. This is because he had been taught the names that God had given them from the beginning.
King David (approximately 1600 years before Islam), said that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Israel, the God of the Old Testament, determines the number of stars and calls them by name.
Therefore, it is accurate to say that the God of the Old Testament Jews, the same God of the New Testament NAMED THE STARS, rather than Muslims or the god of Islam.
This might seem small, insignificant, but IT IS NOT. It is far more important than a faulty or misused 0-Ring, which cost the life of seven heroic people. As soon as a person veers from historic facts and truth, they are headed toward error, deception, misunderstanding. Regardless of how much truth the person says after they lay a foundation of error, the end result is not trustworthy.
I tell this to point out that we must base all of our beliefs on facts, truth, if we want to have accurate understanding. The Bible is infallible, never been proved wrong, Divine revelation. If something contradicts the clear revelation of God, it is wrong. If something is based on something that contradicts the Bible, it is not trustworthy.
BTW, it is the collateral damage of crediting Islam with false accomplishments in academics and science that I am actually addressing. But my point is, if people cannot get the basics, which are clearly evident, then it is no wonder they are confused about the rest of revisionist history.
Islam, as a religion, DID NOT CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO culture or science. They destroyed the accomplishments of thousands of years. There were a few Muslims between the 9th and 12th centuries that went against Islamic worldview and used western foundations of science and philosophy (which Islam sought to destroy completely, and still seek to destroy today). As Islam swept across the world it erased culture, science, philosophy and burned the world's great libraries, and destroyed the historic markers of western civilization.
If you want to know truth, I suggest you read a book, before the truths are burned in sacrifice to the gods of darkness and ignorance. READ AND HEED THE BIBLE.
PART 2
NAMING IS NOT THE SAME AS RENAMING.
God named the stars and constellations, and then they were renamed by various tribes and peoples, including the Arabic people. Just because the stars were renamed by the Arabs does not mean that the Arabs or any other CULTure actually NAMED THEM. Likewise, just because the Romans and Greeks, along with every other CULTure in the world, renamed the constellations, it does not mean that they NAMED THE CONSTELLATIONS.
GOD NOT ONLY...

HE Placed them specifically where they would do the job He prescribed for them,
HE Holds them in place,
HE Numbered and,
HE Named them and
HE Uses the stars and constellation for His purposes (lights, holding the universe in place, signs, and seasons, and revealing Himself and His plan through natural theology.
This is the problem with Humanism, Liberalism, Naturalism, Materialism, Secularism and other isms. The steal from God and claim it as their own. The lost and pagan world is made of up IDENTITY THIEVES.

As a result, anyone who follows the errors and the errant logic of the "expert" will also believe error, or more specifically, a lie. I call it a lie because there is enough evidence concerning the truth to refute the error, but those who know the evidence choose not to accept the evidence. This happens largely in religion, science, history, politics.
THE EXAMPLE
I mentioned the well known astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson as an example. There is no question that Tyson has great intellectual capability and has applied himself admirably. However, I have watched him several times, and caught him in various and obvious errors. I will give an Explanation, concerning why such errors are dangerous, in the next paragraph, and give an Example of this problem in the following paragraph.
Explanation
When an error or a deliberate misrepresentation is accepted as being true, factual, accurate, then any findings built upon those errors are subject to error. When a thought process is led away from facts then the end of the thought process is probably going to be flawed. Even if most of the foundation is solid and trustworthy, the superstructure is still weakened. For instance, the Space Shuttle project cost 196 BILLION DOLLARS, but the Challenger failed because an error was made in the use of a small, inexpensive O-Ring. The O-Ring seemed to be a minor part of the great project, but the project's success depended on each part being trustworthy.
Example
In a presentation, concerning the contribution that Muslims (or Islam) has made to science, modern society, academics and culture, Tyson cited a comment by President George W. Bush immediately after the Muslim attack on 9/11/01.
Tyson mocked Bush's comment that the terrorists had attacked the people, whose God "named the stars." Tyson pointed out that the stars actually were named by Muslims and that he (Tyson) could have helped Bush not make this false statement, if only he had asked Tyson. YES, we refer to the stars by Arabic names.
However,
Islam did not come into existence until approximately 610 A.D. Muhammad (born 570 A.D.) formed his own man made religion, based on the foundation of some Jewish beliefs, some Christian beliefs and then adjusted to his own pagan beliefs.
However,
the Old Testament clearly tells us that the God of the Bible created the stars (at least 4600 years before Islam was devised),
God's servant, Job (in the time of Abraham, approximately 2500 years before Islam), referred to the stars and constellations by names. This is because he had been taught the names that God had given them from the beginning.
King David (approximately 1600 years before Islam), said that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Israel, the God of the Old Testament, determines the number of stars and calls them by name.
Therefore, it is accurate to say that the God of the Old Testament Jews, the same God of the New Testament NAMED THE STARS, rather than Muslims or the god of Islam.
This might seem small, insignificant, but IT IS NOT. It is far more important than a faulty or misused 0-Ring, which cost the life of seven heroic people. As soon as a person veers from historic facts and truth, they are headed toward error, deception, misunderstanding. Regardless of how much truth the person says after they lay a foundation of error, the end result is not trustworthy.
I tell this to point out that we must base all of our beliefs on facts, truth, if we want to have accurate understanding. The Bible is infallible, never been proved wrong, Divine revelation. If something contradicts the clear revelation of God, it is wrong. If something is based on something that contradicts the Bible, it is not trustworthy.
BTW, it is the collateral damage of crediting Islam with false accomplishments in academics and science that I am actually addressing. But my point is, if people cannot get the basics, which are clearly evident, then it is no wonder they are confused about the rest of revisionist history.
Islam, as a religion, DID NOT CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO culture or science. They destroyed the accomplishments of thousands of years. There were a few Muslims between the 9th and 12th centuries that went against Islamic worldview and used western foundations of science and philosophy (which Islam sought to destroy completely, and still seek to destroy today). As Islam swept across the world it erased culture, science, philosophy and burned the world's great libraries, and destroyed the historic markers of western civilization.
If you want to know truth, I suggest you read a book, before the truths are burned in sacrifice to the gods of darkness and ignorance. READ AND HEED THE BIBLE.

NAMING IS NOT THE SAME AS RENAMING.
God named the stars and constellations, and then they were renamed by various tribes and peoples, including the Arabic people. Just because the stars were renamed by the Arabs does not mean that the Arabs or any other CULTure actually NAMED THEM. Likewise, just because the Romans and Greeks, along with every other CULTure in the world, renamed the constellations, it does not mean that they NAMED THE CONSTELLATIONS.
GOD NOT ONLY...

HE Placed them specifically where they would do the job He prescribed for them,
HE Holds them in place,
HE Numbered and,
HE Named them and
HE Uses the stars and constellation for His purposes (lights, holding the universe in place, signs, and seasons, and revealing Himself and His plan through natural theology.
This is the problem with Humanism, Liberalism, Naturalism, Materialism, Secularism and other isms. The steal from God and claim it as their own. The lost and pagan world is made of up IDENTITY THIEVES.

We may not get all we want in this life, by calling on God, but we will not get from God what He wants us to have if we don't call on Him.
Neither will we get what God wants us to have if we focus on that which He does not want us to have.
We can crowd the will of God out of our lives by pursuing the will of self.
The will of self can produce incredible results, but those results will not be pleasing to God or satisfying to ourselves.
The will of God may seem unattractive, undesirable at some point, but the follower of Christ comes to realize that the will of God is what satisfies us ultimately.

Whatever the Biblical revelation, instruction, command is, we better be ready to obey, and follow. In the post I was referring to a time when I was part of a "Bible believing" denomination, but like so many others, our Conference was taking steps to address (actually, sidestep) the homosexual problem in society and The Church. I stood in opposition to the proposed policy change that was being discussed. My argument was based on God's word, as found in Romans 1. The Chairman of the Conference did not deny what Paul had said, but he pointed out that our denomination was not ready to follow Paul's directives. I continued to stand firm and argue that I was ready to follow Paul, when the chairman threatened to have me removed from the floor of the Conference. I remained standing and made it clear that he would have to remove me before I would change my position. The Chair chose to refer the issue to a "committee" rather than pursue it during that Conference session. There were other pastors that shared my commitment, but sadly, the denomination was leaning toward "compromising" (selling out) the Divine directive in the Bible. And yes, I did leave that denomination. I have made hard choices throughout my life and those choices were not always understood by friends and family.
There have been several times that I stood on Biblical truth, while friends, family and other loved ones chose to disobey God, by claiming that we are not "spiritual" enough to follow God's revelation, as if an unreachable level of spirituality and maturity is required in order to obey God.
God's rule, God's commands, God's instructions do not depend on our maturity or spirituality. When God says it, that settles it. If we are not "ready," or "spiritual," enough, then that does not change God's revelation. If we are not ready for God's rule in our lives, we will face God's judgment.
Sometimes we have to stand against society, against the government, against "Christendom," against our denomination, against friends, against family and other loved ones. BUT WE SHOULD NEVER STAND AGAINST GOD.
God does not expect us to obey Him, based on our own opinions or based on the popularity of His rule. Regardless of the reason that someone else is, "NOT READY," to follow and obey God, we better be ready, because God is not changing His mind or His requirements, based on our rebellion.

At our Conversion we realize that our sins have separated us from God, we are sanctified from our SINS committed (in the plural).

Our daily life is set apart from sinning against, to serving, God.
At our Entire Sanctification, when we realize that we are double minded and we make total surrender, we are filled with the Holy Spirit), we are cleansed from SIN inherited (nature).
In the book of Acts this is referred to as "The Baptism with the Holy Spirit." Our Baptism with the Holy Spirit begins at our salvation, but is completed at the time of our full surrender. This happened for the believers gathered in the upper room on the Day of Pentecost and reoccurred with the Gentile believers. Peter pointed out that this total infilling was evidenced by the purification of the heart.
Acts 15:8-9
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
Keep in mind that FORGIVENESS of SINS and NEWNESS OF LIFE is the work of God when we are converted, but the purifying of the heart or CLEANSING from ALL SIN is the work of God when we are sanctified entirely.

The "Sanctified Life" is the life that is lived in surrender to the will of God and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Consecration, dedication, separation is the human part. Only the believer can make that decision to be dead to sin and alive fully to God.
Cleansing and entire purification is the Divine part. Only God can cleanse us of our sins and cleanse us from our sin.
After we, as believers, are willing to accept our crucifixion with Christ, then we are able to follow fully by wholeheartedly yielding our whole body in obedience to God.
Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The end result of total surrender and full commitment is evidenced by exclusive service to God with our whole being.

The "Sanctified Life" is the life that is lived in surrender to the will of God and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Consecration, dedication, separation is the human part. Only the believer can make that decision to be dead to sin and alive fully to God.
Cleansing and entire purification is the Divine part. Only God can cleanse us of our sins and cleanse us from our sin.
After we, as believers, are willing to accept our crucifixion with Christ, then we are able to follow fully by wholeheartedly yielding our whole body in obedience to God.
Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The end result of total surrender and full commitment is evidenced by exclusive service to God with our whole being.
Romans 6:6-23
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

The Magi were filled with Joy as they realized that they were about to find the long expected, Divinely foretold Messiah, the King of Israel.
Matthew 2:10
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
Jesus taught that those who receive the word of God are the ones who hear it and receive it with joy. (Sadly, it is possible to receive, accept, believe the word of God with joy, but then become offended by the the difficulties of life, and as a result, abandon, reject the word of God, thereby losing the joy of the Lord.
Matthew 13:20
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
Jesus also taught that when a person realizes the great worth (value) of salvation, he may desire it so much that he sells all that he has, he abandons everything in order to take hold of that great treasure.
Matthew 13:44
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Jesus taught that the good and faithful servant, who serves God in this present evil world will inherit a place of honor and joy with God forever.
Matthew 25:21 (and vs. 23)
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
We find joy when we realize that He died for our sins and rose again for our justification; when we realize that He was dead, but lives again, giving us eternal life.

Ask friends and loved ones if you come across as a stoic, a sourpuss or a serene person?

THIS IS NOT FOR FUN, IT IS FOR JOY
(fun comes from circumstances, JOY comes from a right relationship with God)
I would have chosen the word, "JOYFUL" instead of SERENE, but I wanted a word that starts with "S". Still, SERENE (calm, peaceful, untroubled; tranquil) is a good word, but it limits my idea but it was the best "S" word I could find. In fact, another word I started to use was, "SUNNY," but that seemed too light and frivolous. In fact, I am sure it would be considered too POLLYANNA-ISH, which is a favorite word used in attacking those who choose to live by faith and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
There were other words I could have used in the place of "stoic" and "sourpuss," such as ANGRY, DISCOURAGED, BURDENED, DEPRESSED, HOPELESS, OVERWHELMED, ADULT, RESPONSIBLE. Yes, there are many things that contribute to our feelings and our dispositions, but our demeanor should be one of joy, peace, faith, hope, it should show the presence of God in us, it should be a holy ENTHUSIASM (God within).
It is easy to blame our gloominess our heaviness, our distressed appearance on our circumstances or our personality type or simply ascribe it to being "realistic." BUT IT AIN'T CHRISTIAN. And Christians do not live by the standards of the world. Christians do not live in the power of the "natural," but in the power of the supernatural, the power of the Spirit of God.
It is one thing "to have troubles," but it is a different thing for "troubles to have us."
Jesus came that we might have HIS JOY and that OUR JOY MIGHT BE FULL. If we really do have the FULLNESS OF HIS JOY, then we are not going to appear stoic, sour, morbid, depressed, discouraged, and a host of other negative, dark descriptions.
THIS IS NOT JUST MY OPINION, IT IS IS GOD'S REVELATION.
God delivers from the chains of gloominess. God's word denounces negativity and delivers from devilish discouragement. We overcome darkness by FAITH. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. READ, HEAR, HEED HIS WORD. Meditate on the following verses and then believe them for deliverance from chains of oppression.
John 15:11
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

THIS IS NOT FOR FUN, IT IS FOR JOY
(fun comes from circumstances, JOY comes from a right relationship with God)
I would have chosen the word, "JOYFUL" instead of SERENE, but I wanted a word that starts with "S". Still, SERENE (calm, peaceful, untroubled; tranquil) is a good word, but it limits my idea but it was the best "S" word I could find. In fact, another word I started to use was, "SUNNY," but that seemed too light and frivolous. In fact, I am sure it would be considered too POLLYANNA-ISH, which is a favorite word used in attacking those who choose to live by faith and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
There were other words I could have used in the place of "stoic" and "sourpuss," such as ANGRY, DISCOURAGED, BURDENED, DEPRESSED, HOPELESS, OVERWHELMED, ADULT, RESPONSIBLE. Yes, there are many things that contribute to our feelings and our dispositions, but our demeanor should be one of joy, peace, faith, hope, it should show the presence of God in us, it should be a holy ENTHUSIASM (God within).
It is easy to blame our gloominess our heaviness, our distressed appearance on our circumstances or our personality type or simply ascribe it to being "realistic." BUT IT AIN'T CHRISTIAN. And Christians do not live by the standards of the world. Christians do not live in the power of the "natural," but in the power of the supernatural, the power of the Spirit of God.
It is one thing "to have troubles," but it is a different thing for "troubles to have us."
Jesus came that we might have HIS JOY and that OUR JOY MIGHT BE FULL. If we really do have the FULLNESS OF HIS JOY, then we are not going to appear stoic, sour, morbid, depressed, discouraged, and a host of other negative, dark descriptions.
THIS IS NOT JUST MY OPINION, IT IS IS GOD'S REVELATION.
God delivers from the chains of gloominess. God's word denounces negativity and delivers from devilish discouragement. We overcome darkness by FAITH. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. READ, HEAR, HEED HIS WORD. Meditate on the following verses and then believe them for deliverance from chains of oppression.
John 15:11
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

07/16/18 OBED-EDOM WAS A DOOR KEEPER IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD
King David assigned Obed-Edom the responsibility to house the Ark of the Covenant in his home, after Uzzah died, when he touched the Ark. Obed-Edom served God boldly, but humbly. He was allowed to serve God in this capacity for several months. Obed was actually assisted by faithful relatives in this service to God and the Bible tells us that God blessed Obed and his family because of their service to the Ark of God.. When the Ark was moved to another location, Obed-Edom chose to make himself available to serve as a doorkeeper for the Ark.
I have often times (though the years) mentioned the glory and honor that goes with seemingly insignificant service, such as being a DOOR KEEPER IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD.
I have used this man of God as a witness to strangers. Sometimes, when a stranger would hold a door for me I would tell them, "thank you," and then point out that Obed-Edom was an humble, but exalted and blessed man because he chose to be a Door Keeper for God.
While I am at a store or bank or restaurant I often hold the door for other people, or rush ahead in order to open it for someone, or wait a little longer as someone approaches the door. Being kind and courteous are important, especially in this rude and crude time of history.
Being a door keeper is more than a position, it is service. We need door keepers in the "house of the Lord" today. We need happy, friendly, sincere, Spirit led men and women, boys and girls eagerly serving others and welcoming people into the presence of the Lord.
We all need to be served the truth and message of God, but we also need to serve others. Remember, Jesus came not to be served, but to serve. We all need the blessings, gifts, outpouring of God in our lives and we all need to serve others.
Being a "door keeper" does not only mean "opening doors," any more than "washing each other's feet" means simply washing feet. These are ministries of service that we render to others because we esteem them worthy of our service and because we want to minister to them.
Someone may actually enter into a worship service with a more open heart because they are greeted by someone who radiates love, acceptance, peace, joy and earnest concern.
An humble door keeper for God has more to celebrate than a king over a dark domain.
Psalms 84:10
10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

My "politics" is based on my citizenship and loyalty.
I am a citizen of heaven and I am committed to the King of kings, JESUS.
Philippians 3:20
20 For our conversation (CITIZENSHIP, from the Greek word "politeuma") is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
(DLG note... The Greek word, "politeuma" refers to the administration of civil affairs, or a commonwealth or government or laws, therefore, "conversation" in the KJV is better translated as "community" or "citizenship."
Remember, definition and usage of words changes, and the English words "conversation" and "communications" (along with many other words) conveyed certain ideas 400 years ago that are not understood today, which is why we must explain and define many Biblical terms and concepts. The word of God was given in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic, but it is translated into the various languages of the world, so that we might know what God revealed through prophets and apostles.
The word, "conversation" is also used in the KJV translation of Philippians 1:27; but again, it is not referring simply to verbal communications, but rather to "behavior,"" manner of life," "a place in community."
Philippians 1:27
27 Only let your conversation (Gr. "politeuomai,") be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

My citizenship, my home, my family, my allegiances are to the King of heaven and earth and to His rule (His kingdom).
I have an earthly citizenship, but I am primarily a SUBJECT of the King. My first, foremost and final allegiance is to God. This should not be a conflict with this world because the entire world should be willingly subject to God. However, the kings of this world often reject and rebel against the rule of the King of kings. One day in the future, Jesus will return to set up His thousand year Kingdom, which is a precursor to His eternal reign in the New Jerusalem, New Earth, New Heaven.
As we approach the time of His return and earthly reign, the rebellious rulers of this world are joining their kingdoms (political, academic, philosophical, religious, economic) in an attempt to overthrow and oust the rule of God from this world. Their efforts are an exercise in futility.
Psalms 2:1-12
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

There are special "days" in the spiritual realm.
Don't miss the Day of God's Visitation.
You may not see another one.
DON'T WAIT
Days and Seasons are marked on God's calendar. They are always determined by God. Sometimes He enables men to pray for those special times of blessing. But regardless of the Divine mechanics involved, remember, the day of God's mercy, kindness, invitation, salvation is not always available, and it is never available at the whim of man. Either we catch the wave of God's moving, when He is moving, or we may never have another opportunity to tie into His out poured blessing.
I remember the mighty moving of God in the 60s and 70s, in our own country and around the world. I remember the spiritual hunger that resulted in many millions coming to Christi, but it also eventuated in the explosive growth of cults, false religions, false Christs, humanism, Satan worship, drug culture, hedonism, Statism and academia. There was a desire for spiritual fulfillment enveloping the globe, but people rushed to accept Satan's offer of "salvation knock offs."
In recent years we have seen a season of coldness, darkness, emptiness. Not only have we seen times of great people movements turning to God in the past, we have also seen times of great people movements turning from God, and unimaginable and blindness to God, and unexpected anger towards God.
The times of God's refreshing come by God grace and by God's choosing. Though there are "spots" of spiritual awareness and restoration, the whole globe is enveloped in chains of bondage, groping in spiritual darkness, following the Pied Pipers of God blasphemers.
You may never see another time when the Spirit of God sweeps in, convicts and convinces large segments of a sinful society to believe, repent, confess and follow Jesus, as we have seen in days past. You are better off if you don't wait for such an outpouring of Divine manifestation (it may never happen). You should walk in the slivers of Light that God sends to show you your lost estate and cry loudly for Him to have mercy on your eternal soul. God owes you nothing. You owe God everything. Be thankful that you still have opportunity, though it be the final gleanings. Be thankful that He still calls at the last minute.
Think about this, there is coming a time when the last conversion, last prayer will take place in this present age. Then the rapture takes place. If you have heard the gospel and chosen not to turn to Christ, then you will never have that opportunity again. God will send you strong delusion because you spent your life insulting the Spirit of grace. Your last chance will have, "come and gone."
