12/15/18 NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT

12/15/18  NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT
(I posted a picture of the old Beaufort Draw Bridge, before it was torn down.)

Get a good look at it, 'cause it's gone. It was loved and hated. It brought grief and provided escape. The old Beaufort, Grayden Paul Draw Bridge is gone forever. Yes there is a newer, bigger, better one in place, but this draw will never open and close again. Some hated it because it slowed then down or stopped them, while others enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the car and get lost in the moment as they watched a local fishing boat carry its crew to and from work.

It was the gateway to work or shopping or hospital or ball games. But it is gone. I understand those who welcomed a newer, more adequate and serviceable bridge. But while it was here, it did a lot of good, even for those who cursed her.

It is a picture of another Bridge that was loved and hated, blessed and cursed. God sent His Son to provide the Way to pass from one shore to another. He stood through many a storm and made it safe for us to find shelter from the raging winds and rising seas of adversity.

He knew what it was like to be despised by those He came to serve and protect. But unlike the old Beaufort bridge, there will be no other Bridge to God. There will come a time when He will close the way of escape from the threatening storm of a raging eternity.

The old Beaufort bridge is now being dismantled, crushed, cut into scrap. It eventually wore out and failed. But Jesus never failed or wore out. He has faithfully remained open to those who ply the sea and travel the roads of life. But one day the way will be closed to all those who waited too long. There will not be another way or second chance. Now is the time, do not delay.
