I don't usually share from Youtube, and I don't like arguments about the "Civil War," but this video can be helpful to the open minded person and it is an example of the point I try to make in my following post. There is a Biblical principle (actually a law) that applies to this problem. We need to know both sides of an issue before we take sides.
Alert, the more Establishment the schooling, the more reason to question it, as an example, the popular "FACTS" concerning War Between the States.
I AM AGAINST SLAVERY
I shouldn't have to say this, but because most people have swallowed the lies of revisionist history and the establishment (as seen in the prevailing Northern prejudice against the South and Southerners) regional pride and disdain for others has not only revised history but misrepresented those who do not share their misinformed and provincial viewpoints.
It is easy to make decisions when only one side of a proposition is presented or only one side is "credited" as being true. However, knowing the whole story provides the opportunity for honest evaluation. A major part of the problem with the union of Political Correctness and the spread of Islam is that facts suffer first and foremost. As Liberals whitewash Islamic history and seek to tarnish Biblical Christianity and Western society, there is less knowledge and understanding about the Bible, about the real Jesus, about salvation, about Church History, and as a result there is a greater wall of resistance to the liberating message of Christ, both in America's young people and those who are coming to this country.
THIS VIDEO IS NOT AN ARGUMENT FOR SLAVERY, again, I have to say this to penetrate the hard hardheadedness of people who have been brainwashed, or brain poisoned against facts concerning the War Between the States.
I have two reasons for sharing this video.
1. I get tired of hearing misinformed and misled people, including "intellectuals," automatically pigeonhole me and other Southerners as being racists and being an ill informed subspecies. That mentality is based on arrogance, misinformation, prejudice and self importance.
2. It is important to know that those in power often change history and facts in order to accomplish their own agenda. This video demonstrates this problem as it relates to the rewriting of history. This is not a claim that there were no problems or sins in the South or in Southerners, including the atrocity of slavery, which was a RECOGNIZED NATIONAL REALITY that had existed as a law of the United States of America and continued to exist as a law in the United States of America after Lincoln's, Emancipation Proclamation. Yes, there were problems in the South and the North.
I am not sharing this video to whitewash evil in anyone. I am sharing this video to demonstrate that it is possible to tell half truths and baldfaced lies, convincing people and agitating people against actual facts and reality. Demonizing while being guilty of the same sins or crimes is deception and falsification. These are also sins.
One of the things I like about this video is that documentation is clearly shared, and the presentation of the video actually presents both sides of the issue. However, those who want to hide truth do not tell the whole truth. Sometimes it is because they are deceived. But regardless of their motives, "half truthers" are "mis-leaders."

Research may indicate that humans have about 24 favorite places at any given time.
What does that say about you?
This research included the info from accumulated data on smartphones. It seems that people have a tendency to frequent about two dozen locations on a regular basis, at any given time in their lives. In other words, for an unspecified period of time (weeks or months) I may have 24 places I visit during that period of time. This is true for folks who are somewhat limited in their travel habits as well as those who are globetrotters. As time passes, a person may find a "new favorite" place to go. It appears that the "new" replaces, rather than is added to the "old" places. I think of this as being similar to the idea that doing something regularly for six weeks (or so) will make it a habit.
My first thought was about the "place" of CHURCH in people's lives. If they do not attend regularly, then it will not be part of their preferred places to be. Or, from a slightly different perspective, it is possible that a person can lose their time spent in worship and study and fellowship by putting something in its place.
My next thought considered the kinds of places a person frequents. See, we set the pattern of...
where we spend our time and,
with whom we spend our time and,
how we spend our time.
These choices have an immeasurable impact on the people we are and the people we become.
Obviously I teach that our spiritual life is a personal choice to either obey or disobey Christ. But our spiritual development is determined by the quality as well as the quantity of spiritual input we have in our lives. An athlete or musician or any other skilled person will become better at their endeavor if they spend time in study, training, practice, socializing with others who know and practice and love and hone themselves concerning a particular discipline. This includes "being where" that discipline or activity is the focus.
Of course I am not encouraging simply "going to church" or going to "any church." I am hoping that you make a habit and that you have a great desire to be in a strong, loving, Bible preaching church with Christ followers.
Make it part of your habit.
Make it one of your favorite places to be.
Make it one of your preferred activities.
The same principles are true concerning the people you choose to be with. Certainly family should be in your "chosen" list of people, places, participation.

If your religion is Christianity, your religion won't save you, because no religion saves.
Only a living faith in Christ saves.
JESUS, not RELIGION, saves us from sin and eternal separation from God.
Religion is system of beliefs concerning (G)god and the form of worship and service rendered to that G(g)od. Even Bible believing, born again, Spirit filled Christians have religion. But it is possible to believe intellectually the same thing as a true follower of Christ, and still be lost, because the faith that saves is more than intellectual and emotional assent to a religious system.
It is possible to be Roman Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal or another stripe of those who follow a "Christian" church, and still not be saved.
A person MUST realize he/she has sinned and deserves eternal separation from God, and MUST believe that Christ provides salvation form rebellion and punishment and MUST turn from sin (repent), MUST trust in His death and resurrection (faith), MUST confess their sins to God and MUST confess Christ as their Lord and Savior, and MUST Jesus and continued to walk in the way He leads, in order to be saved.

Jesus saves.
We are saved by grace, through faith.

If you obey something that conflicts with His Lordship in your life, your on the wrong ship.
God said, through Paul, that Christians must die to Sin, Satan's system (the world) and to Self. Dying to sin removes us from the power of sin in our lives and enables us to serve God fully. Consider this passage from Romans.
Romans 6:6-22
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Don't trust your life to the internet (media, religion).
However, you can trust some internet info more than "legitimate" info.
The internet is replete with kooks and corruptors, but there is a smattering of truth tellers. In fact, I remember hearing mainstream media mocking people who go to the internet to news, rather than the "accepted" outlets. Knowing how much false info and how much filth is on the internet, I agreed with such an assessment.
HOWEVER, getting news is not simply believing the social media and personal web pages of hundreds of millions of people. There are some people and some organizations who attempt to provide actual information. Even then, there is no informational outlet that anyone should trust to do all the thinking, or that anyone should trust with their soul or their lives.
I have found some outlets that I believe address the current affairs issues honestly and fairly, or at least more honestly and more fairly than the big money and network stuff, including Fox, NBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, BBC, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc news.
Feed your mind and your soul on that which is true. Of course, the basic food for soul and mind is the word of God. Not only does the Bible give the essential nutrients, it also builds resistance and immunity to lies and deceit.
