09/11/18 IN THE PATH OF DESTRUCTION?

09/11/18 IN THE PATH OF DESTRUCTION?

Call On Jesus.
Put Your Big Anchor Out.

Seek Higher Ground.

WHETHER NATURAL OR SPIRITUAL DANGERS

(CALL) As Peter walked on water, his faith began to ebb out and he started to sink. He CALLED on Jesus and Jesus saved him from the turbulent sea.

Many times people have found themselves in situations that they could not handle (physical and spiritual), but they called on the Lord and He saved them. We are directed by God to CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD.

This is not a mantra or magic word. It is the cry of surrender, trust, obedience.

Matthew 14:29-33

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

(ANCHOR) An anchor is used to keep a boat safe from the raging sea. As a child I often heard folks tell each other to "put out your big anchor," as a hurricane was headed our way.

HOPE is the anchor of the soul and Jesus is our Hope. Jesus holds firm in the time of storm. Jesus is our Anchor inside the harbor of safety. Jesus is greater than any winds of adversity we face.. We must put our faith in Jesus. We must not allow the storms or other circumstances of life turn us from Jesus.

1 Timothy 1:1
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

Hebrews 6:18-19
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

(HIGHER GROUND) When the stormy rains fall and the raging sea rises, it is best to seek higher ground, to settle on a firm foundation. The shifting sand will give way and we will be carried out to a watery grave if we do move from the sandy shore to a rock and unshakable foundation.

Jesus is the Higher Ground, the Solid Rock. He lifts us up. He supports us in time of trial and temptation. Jesus leads us to a higher life. Jesus protects us from the storms. Jesus and His one time sacrifice never fails.

Hebrews 7:25-27
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Matthew 7:24-27
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
