Just as a mere man may be a father, son or king, he may also be a judge (elohim, "god"). This does not make us God.
JESUS IS GOD
John 1:1-3
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
J.W.'s argue that Jesus is "another god," in the same sense that God called leaders in Israel, "Elohim" or "gods" (Psalm 82:6). As I mentioned above, it is not the same. There are other titles that apply to both humans and Deity, however, in different ways, such as savior, lord, master, shepherd.
On the other hand, there are names and titles that only apply to God, but are applicable to both the Father and the Son. Though there are gods many, there is only One True and Living God, only one Jehovah, and this title is given to Jesus as well as the Father.
Psalms 82:1-8
1 A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.
1 Corinthians 8:4-6
4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
