07/06/18 BUT THERE IS A FINAL AUTHORITY

07/06/18 BUT THERE IS A FINAL AUTHORITY

Ben Shapiro scorns, "argument from authority," (degreed people), which is valid point. But he also rejects Bible citing.

BUT THERE IS A FINAL AUTHORITY
Ben Shapiro is well known conservative voice and debater. When asked if he has college degrees from a wide variety of subjects, he points out that a having a degree does not make a person an authority. In fact, he scorns the idea of, "argument from authority."

There are several reasons I agree with this point of view. but I will not address those reasons at the time.,

He includes reference to the Bible or Scripture citing as being argument from authority, which he also refuses as valid. Shapiro is a not a Christian (he is a Jew) and he does not hold to Christian moral values in his speech. but he does present himself in a fairly decent way. Though he says a lot of very thoughtful and helpful things, his unregenerate and unChristlike vocabulary and public persona is repugnant to holy, or simply decent conversation. This is true with a number of well known (?) conservative voices, like Dice, Fletcher, Crowder, Jones and others (some of which claim to be Christian).

However, there are actual "authorities" which should be considered (and in fact he does cite the findings and writings of some expert authorities. ALSO, THE BIBLE really is an authoritative source but of course, being a not-believer in Christ, he does not refer to the Bible as the final and ultimately true authority. Though the Bible can be misrepresented and misused, the fact is, the Bible is the authority.

In arriving at truth, we should seek the answers from the Bible. It is not simple believism or blind faith. Building our beliefs on the Bible is an exercise of mind and spirit. All answers to life questions should be understood in the light of the word of God.
