04/11/18 SPIRIT CONTROL AND SELF CONTROL
The greatest ministry gift is prophecy (declaring God's word). Still, the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet.
We must use wisdom, love and self control in the manifestation of our gifts. If this is true for the prophet, the proclaimer of truth, how much more so for those who claim to have other gifts, abilities, talents, skills? Gifts should not take over the will or actions of believers. God has given us control. God wants us to surrender to His leading.
Before we pour out our gifts to bless others...
We need to be totally surrendered in every area of our lives.
We need to be saturated and controlled by the One Who is the Giver of every good and perfect gift.
We need to be subject to the standards God requires.
We need to be seeking God's outpouring on other people (convicting the sinner, saving the lost, sanctifying the saved, equipping the saints, comforting the troubled and persecuted).
