03/24/18 RECONCILIATION MUST BE ACCORDING TO GOD'S WORD
It is easy to use legitimate authority to do wrong. It takes love, faithfulness, submission, sacrifice to do the right thing.
Church discipline is not easy, or fun for the true child of God, but it is essential for personal and corporate purity and unity. Some people use Biblical standards of reconciliation as a whip, to punish and torment others or to keep order in group through fear. Cults often do this.
However, there is such a thing as Biblical steps of reconciliation for those who have sinned overtly and often against individual Christians or against the local church at large. GOD DETAILS THE STEPS OF RECONCILIATION.
To sidestep or explain away the word of God is to condemn the unrepentant offender to a false hope, and it puts other Christians (as well as sinners) in jeopardy. The people who take a Biblical position will often be hated and lied about and turned against. In fact, loving, faithful, obedient, self denying believers and churches will often be called cultic if they follow the revelation of God.
Be Biblical, no matter what the cost.
