03/26/18 A STRONG DEFENSE IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD
As long as we are walled in and the gates are securely locked, we should not have to worry about an unwanted intrusion. Sadly, this is the stance people take against God, His word, His Spirit, His messengers.
In fact, in the face of a whole world that was shutting God out, we read this from the days of Noah,
Genesis 6:3
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
The longer people resist being transformed from what they should not be and resist being conformed to what they should be, the less likely they are to ever be invaded by God and His power and His influence.
People don't mind being transformed, as long as it does not take away their favorite flaws and they don't mind being conformed to the image of Jesus, as long as it does not cost them too much. Come to think of it, this is exactly what God does do when He transforms and conforms us.
Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 8:29
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
